Beginner Golf Lessons

Choosing to take up golf as a sport is not an easy decision to make, but once you have made your choice, you will be bombarded with so many other decisions. Should I start at the driving range, should I hit up the golf course first, what balls do I get, should I buy cheap clubs, how do I score the game, what styles of clothes do I wear and all types of other choices are examples of decisions you will have to make. As you can see, there are so many questions that need to be answered before stepping on the golf course.

What Clubs Do I Start With?

The first decision you will probably have to make is what type of golf clubs you will get. There are many opinions out there when it comes to this question, but I believe that good quality used clubs are the best choice to go with. You will be surprised to hear that there are a lot of good deals out there, when it comes to good quality used clubs.

Why Good Quality Used Clubs?

First, if you do not know where to begin just search for Taylormade or Callaway pre-owned clubs, they have very reasonable prices. Second, most good quality pre-owned clubs come with warranty, which comes in handy in case the clubs have some sort of defect. The last reason, and probably the best reason, you should get good quality used clubs is because you can probably break even on your investment dollar for dollar, which means that the resale value on your good quality pre-owned clubs is very good.

Where should I start?

One question I asked myself when I first began was, "Where should I start, the practice range or the golf course?" As a beginner I feel it is best to start at the driving range because it gives you time to practice your swing without anyone rushing you. Many times when you are at the golf course, better golfers will be right behind you, not giving you enough time to really work on your swing. This alone would probably frustrate you and get you bent out of shape.

Starting at the practice range allows you to really practice at your pace, without no one rushing you, so you really get a good feel for your shot. After all, would you sit and take an exam without studying? Like they say perfect practice make you better. Give yourself 5 to 6 months and really work on the basics. If you need more time, keep going to the range, every golfer is different, some will need less time and others will need more.

Remember, confidence is the key to any athletes' success and the only way to attain that is through practice. If you feel uncomfortable at the practice range, what makes you think you will feel comfortable at the golf course? Ultimately, you want to enjoy your time at the golf course, which is hard to do when you are not sure of your game.

One last thing, make sure you do not just work on your swing, work on learning basic rules, golf etiquette, and how to do certain tasks that occur very often when playing golf with others.
